Pentagon brass hats are panic-stricken at the news some 14 current and former female military members have filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court contending they were victims of sexual harassment and, in some cases, rape.
The women contend they complained about the assaults, but commanders turned a deaf ear, and in some cases, the females themselves were threatened and intimidated into silence. One plaintiff claimed she was "drugged and gang raped" at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma as recently as two months ago.
Another servicewoman said she was attacked while serving in Afghanistan at Salerno Forward Operating Base near the Pakistani border in 2007.
The alleged victim claimed she was raped on her bed while other GI's took photos of the incident that ended up posted on a pornographic website.
LAST TWO PENTAGON CHIEFS NAMED IN SUIT
Named in the suit is Hussein waterboy Robert Gates and the fired and disgraced former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
The document contends Rumsfeld delayed naming members to a commission investigating the military's handling of sexual assault cases back in 2004. Gates was accused of violating plaintiff's rights by allowing alleged attackers to receive "slap-on-the-wrist" non-judicial punishment.
Sarah Albertson, a former Marine corporal, said in the lawsuit her commander at Camp Pendleton climbed into bed where she was sleeping and forced himself on her.
The female NCO, who admitted "heavy drinking" at a party the night of the alleged assault, said she was told to "suck it up" and "respect the high rank" of the officer who had sex with her.
Albertson said she was horrified she was made to continue working in the same office as her alleged assailant, despite what had supposedly gone on before.
BEWARE OF FALSE ACCUSATIONS
WOMEN NOT PUNISHED WHEN CAUGHT LYING
Back in 1996, with the anonymous complaint "hotline" and a spate of false accusations that destroyed many lives and caused three suicides, the military has been more careful about taking "rape" and "sex assault" complaints at face value.
We don't doubt this lawsuit has merit. We have always fought for stiff punishment for any males who sexually-harass or assault female service women. But, we also feel those who lie and try to "get over" or "get even" should face jail and court-martial themselves.
As we pointed out in our lengthy article on TAILHOOK '91, there were several proven instances of false charges made, one by a female Navy lieutenant who yelled "RAPE" but admitted lying when photos surfaced of her laughing and frolicking, half nude, her legs wrapped around the waist of the naval aviator she was willing to send to Leavenworth for 30 years on a phony rape charge.
Millionairess Paula Coughlin was nailed repeatedly for picking out the wrong people in a lineup, at one point swearing her attacker was the photo she fingered until told that particular male wasn't a Naval aviator but a Marine non-com at Quantico and had never been to Las Vegas.
Let's hammer any men who commit these crimes, but if this lawsuit leads to a bunch of male military members being "sacrificed" for expediency by the gutless, "politically-correct" Pentagon to appease feminist ire, then MilitaryCorruption.com urges the powers-that-be to punish any lying females - along with the males - who make such damaging charges, knowing them to be untrue.
