The "dictatorial style" of the present Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness has resulted in frightened and frustrated members of the directorate sending anonymous letters of complaint to the Pentagon IG.
"An atmosphere of fear and retaliation" is how some describe working under retired Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Clifford Stanley. Sources say 30 senior executive service civilians have been given the axe or forced to retire or resign. "It's a reign of terror here," one worker told MilitaryCorruption.com.
One of President Barack Hussein Obama's minority picks, Stanley is now viewed as undercutting African-American gains in high positions in the U.S. government and military. They say the gruff, obnoxious boss has so poisoned the atmosphere that few want to work for him and risk humiliation, degradation, and the end of their careers because "an angry man is out-of-control."
JOWERS GETS THE SCOOP - KUDOS TO MILITARYTIMES.COM
We've always had the utmost respect for MilitaryTimes.com senior staff writer Karen Jowers. She has more integrity in her little finger than some of the suits over there in Springfield, Va. have in their entire body. Karen was at the TIMES before the politically-correct Gannett gang bought the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps TIMES, and we hope she's going to stay around a while longer. She's simply the best writer and reporter they have. We hope our praise of this outstanding journalist won't cause her harm, and hasten to add that we haven't had a conversation or contact with her in several years.
MilitaryCorruption.com's long-running feud with arrogant and ignorant Air Force TIMES editors, who shamefully refused to cover the Jill Metzger cover-up, save re-writing Pentagon press releases or maintaining a wall of silence on the scandal, should have no bearing on our admiration of a fellow member of the Fourth Estate.
It was Karen who broke the story of the IG complaints about Stanley, and she deserves all kinds of kudos for her excellent reporting.
STANLEY INSTIGATES FEAR - SQUANDERS
BIG BUCK$ ON LUXURY CONFERENCE ROOM
"At least six senior Pentagon staff members, including federal civilian employees, senior executives and uniformed officers, have filed a complaint with the Defense Dept. Inspector General against . . . Stanley," she wrote.
"The complaint, filed anonymously July 11, accuses Stanley of fraud, waste, abuse, incompetence, and creating a command climate marked by fear and mistrust. They cite his leadership as destroying the morale and effectiveness of the personnel and
readiness directorate . . . Stanley is severely degrading the department's mission in time of war, the complaint said."
In addition to Stanley's "bully-boy" tactics, informed sources say the abrasive under secretary's taste for luxury has squandered taxpayers' dollars. They cite his spending $360,000 on a luxurious conference room that is only used for three hours a week.
Before some of our critics play "the race card" and say we are exposing Stanley because he's a Black, don't waste your time or ours writing in. We have long championed minorities, women, enlisted people, and whistle blowers in the U.S. military.
CONGRESSMAN ALLEN WEST NOT "ON THE PLANTATION"
A MAN OR GREAT HONOR AND INTEGRITY
Obama would never do this, but an ideal man, supremely well-qualified for Stanley's post, is another Black American. the highly-respected Congressman from Florida;s 22nd District, Rep. Allen West.
We've known West for many years, back to the time we fought for his pension when a political whore general tried to destroy his career (see related stories box below). We endorsed West for his first run for Congress and again two years later, when the retired Army light colonel came back to defeat a Democrat hack in the 2010 general election.
Allen West possesses all of the ability and know-how to make a great future senator for Florida and perhaps even President of the United States. You can count on him to respect your intelligence by NOT using empty catch-phrases like HOPE and REAL CHANGE to get elected, when the only real "change" is higher gas prices and unemployment, with not two but three "wars" running simultaneously.
It would never happen, but if Obama ever replaced the misfit Stanley, West, despite his Republican registration) would be an ideal choice.
