COL JOHN McGRATHThere isn't much left for COL John McGrath to do now but put in his retirement papers and get out of the Army. Some would say he was just another casualty of "political correctness." And others contend the well-respected doctor - while abrupt and abrasive at times - was the target of a vindictive Army wife.

MilitaryCorruption.com has learned that the former commander at Evans Army Hospital earned the woman's undying enmity when he issued a well-deserved Article 15 to the female's soldier husband.

From that point on, we are told, she allegedly manufactured or misrepresented comments McGrath supposedly said that depicted him as a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal.

It is alleged she also urged others to do likewise.

"COMMENTS" IF TRUE, WAY OUT OF LINE

Here are some of the remarks the 29-year Army veteran is alleged to have said that got him in, as we reported earlier (see "related stories box below), "big trouble."

To a sexy-looking nurse, McGrath commented: "I can see how you made your rank." And to a female member of the medical staff who told him her husband had deployed overseas, it was claimed that the doctor inquired if she was "out partying, now?"

If he said that, he's dumber than a fencepost. He's also out-of-line.

OVERWHELMING E-MAIL SUPPORT FOR McGRATH

But the portrait of the man painted in dozens of e-mails we've received make us wonder who is the real Dr. McGrath?

"Kind, considerate, thoughtful" were just a few of the terms used. Others, both enlisted and officer, praised McGrath for his "high degree of professionalism." Still more, after reading of the colonel's removal at Fort Carson on MCC, and in the other media, wondered if this were the same man they served with.

The positive feedback we got on the doctor far outweighed any negative remarks. And that makes us think we smell a rat here.

Did a bitter Army wife and enemy of COL McGrath succeed in taking advantage of an atmosphere today where any accusation is as good as a conviction?

It's a possibility. What do you think?
