FORT BLISS ARMY PVT GETS 30 YEARS IN
SPC Justin Poole was happily talking with his pregnant wife back in the States when the then-Qatar stationed soldier heard a scream and the phone line went dead.
Rachel Poole had been attacked by a dirt bag private from Fort Bliss whom the couple had befriended.
During the vicious break-in of the off-post domicile, the eight-month pregnant woman suffered knife cuts to her face, a broken nose, and a shattered eye socket. Doctors say the 31 year-old Army spouse may lose sight in her right eye due to the severity of her injuries.
THANK GOD, BABY BORN SAFELY
It was PVT Corey Moss who entered the home through a back door and came at Mrs. Poole as if to kill her.
Fortunately, Rachel recovered from her wounds, and the baby, little Isabella, was born without complications.
SPC Poole immediately contacted the authorities and Moss was soon arrested. The knife used in the bloody attack was discovered in his vehicle.
INCIDENT STEMMED FROM A $3000 DEBT
According to court papers in El Paso, Moss owed the Pooles some $3000 after he borrowed their car and was in an accident.
The no good G.I. told CID investigators he thought assaulting Rachel would buy him "a little time" to flee El Paso and go back to New York City where he then had a fiancée.
Moss, 20, ticked off fellow soldiers at Bliss when he claimed his father had been killed in an Oklahoma tornado. Money was raised and contributed to pay for the funeral expenses. It was only later that it was learned Moss had lied about the whole thing.
