Please, God, may none of us reading this now have to go through what a 12 year-old boy just did in New Orleans.
The son of an active duty chief petty officer, the lad wondered why his loving mother hadn't arrived at school to drive him home like she always did at end of day. Worried, but not knowing the horror that awaited him, the boy caught a ride to his house, and when he couldn't get past the locked front door, he peered in a window. There, lying crumpled on the floor, was the lifeless and bloody body of his mother. Allegedly murdered by her husband.
It didn't take long for investigators to trace what happened. Navy CPO David Hugh Marx was some ten years younger than his wife and they had had a history of loud quarrels in the Algiers section of New Orleans. There was no sign of theft or break-in. But the stabbing wounds on Mary Lou Marx showed there had been a violent argument.
ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MURDER OF WIFE
NCIS agents arrested the chief in Norfolk and sources say the 24-year Navy veteran will be brought back to Louisiana to stand trial in civilian court for the first-degree slaying of his wife.
In a bizarre twist to the tragedy, cops say they believe the murder weapon was a sharp pen, not a knife. Whatever it was, the slashing wounds to the woman's face and chest took her life.
The couple's traumatized son is being care for by the Louisiana Dept. of Child and Family Services.
Aviation Ordnanceman Marx enlisted in 1987. He and his wife had made their home on Nunez Street in the city's old quarter. Other than hearing loud quarrels, neighbors report Marx seemed a normal military serviceman. Now he's an accused murderer.
