CHAPLAIN GETS TEN YEARS IN PRISON - KICKED
OUT OF NAVY - LT SHANE DILLMAN HAULED OFF
IN HAND-CUFFS AFTER JUDGE PASSES SENTENCE
AT NORFOLK - FOUND GUILTY OF ALL SEX COUNTS
EXCEPT RAPE - PENTACOSTAL PASTOR WITH WIFE
AND CHILDREN FORMER CHAPLAIN ON USS VINSON
It's all over for Navy Chaplain, Lt. Shane Dillman. The Pentecostal pastor, with a wife and three kids, is on his way to prison for the next ten years. The former senior clergyman aboard the aircraft carrier USS Vinson was hauled out of the courtroom in handcuffs at Norfolk, Va.
Dismissed from the Navy, his ministerial career in ruins, (Dillman will have to register as a sex offender when he finally gets out of the slammer), the only break the 37 year-old officer caught in court was beating a rape charge which could have put him in Leavenworth for life.
At the beginning of the four-day trial before military judge (Capt.) Moira Modzelewski, Dillman pled "guilty" to forcing sex on three female enlisted sailors. The clergyman denied any rape or uttering a "threat" to one of his "victims" to keep quiet.
But that strategic move did him little good, as the case against the chaplain was stronger than the usual
quilt of charges stitched together by the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service).
ANOTHER CHAPLAIN GOES DOWN ON "SEX CHARGES"
The sentence must be reviewed and reaffirmed by Rear Admiral Richard O'Hanlon, commander of Naval Air Forces, Atlantic. But that is basically a formality.
Another military chaplain is on his way to jail. And, as is usually the case, the cause is sex.
