CMDR STEVEN EVERHARTWe promised you last June when we first wrote about CMDR Steven Everhart's relief as skipper of the submarine USS Pennsylvania that we'd let you know any further details.  Well, we have them now, and it doesn't look good for the 40 year-old "pretty boy" Naval officer.

It's been said the native of Great Falls, Mont. couldn't walk past a full-length mirror without admiring himself.  He does look like something off a recruiting poster.  This former admiral's aide, who had been executive officer of the Strategic Systems Program in Washington, D.C., was well on his way to four-stripes on his sleeves and maybe flag rank before reaching retirement age.

Now, the former sub commander - he was XO of the Pennsylvania from 2012 to 2014 - will face charges of adultery and unbecoming an officer, according to a Navy spokesperson.  The identity of his alleged playmate has not yet been revealed.  We welcome any educated guesses from our readers as to who she is, so you CI's know what to do.

VERY BRIEF TENURE AS SUB SKIPPER

The blue crew commander of the Pennsylvania has set some kind of record for brief tenure.  He only assumed top spot on the sub in January.  By May, Everhart was under investigation, and a month later, CAPT Mark Schmall, head of Submarine Squadron 17, had pulled the trigger on him.  The former skipper was fired and quickly transferred to a desk job at Squadron Nine.

CAPT Chad Hennings, Squadron 17's deputy commander, has been assigned to be temporary boss of the Pennsylvania until such time as a permanent replacement can be brought in.

It's an age-old story - and Montana State University and Navy OCS graduate Steven Everhart apparently "couldn't keep it in his pants."  Now he will pay a heavy price for what might have been a few moments of pleasure. Check out our related stories below, and you will see Everhart isn't the only submarine commander who ever stepped on his own dick.
