An Air Force "brat," with a fighter-pilot daddy, who had a "love child" with a married congressman, got "favored treatment" from her Pentagon pals even though an official complaint had been filed against her for "unprofessional conduct" by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's chief of staff.
MilitaryCorruption.com has learned that twice-divorced, long-legged blonde Laura Fay, escaped punishment of any kind after Air Force brass were made aware of her open affair with New York Congressman Vito Fossella during a 2003 Congressional junket to Europe.
The still-attractive, 46 year-old retired light colonel, who was said to have spent all her time with the married lawmaker on the 10-day overseas trip, "acted unprofessionally," according to the complaint made by Hastert's then chief-of-staff, Scott Palmer.
Sources say Palmer was upset that liaison officer Fay was allegedly spending her nights with Fossella and virtually flaunting her affair in front of other members of the delegation during the taxpayer-funded jaunt through nearly a dozen European capitals.
DID ATTRACTIVE BLONDE BENEFIT FROM
"DOUBLE-STANDARD" OF JUSTICE?
While most male officers with the same record would have been at least reprimanded and given an Article 15, if not forced out of the military and possibly forfeit their pension, this safely-retired officer obviously got special consideration.
One Pentagon official confirmed to us that Fay indeed received "favored treatment."
The Fossella affair, which is certain to cost the Republicans their last House seat from New York City in the fall general election and has infuriated GOP stalwarts who'd elected the so-called "family values" congressman to six terms, is not the first time Fay has been linked to adulterous affairs.
Her first husband, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Dale Zeller, divorced her for cheating on him in 1989 after five years of marriage.
Under the UCMJ, adultery is supposed to be a crime, but apparently Fay's good looks and high-placed connections helped her escape any discipline for her alleged sexual hi-jinks.
SECOND MARRIAGE ALSO ENDS IN ADULTERY
Fay wed again in 1995, this time to Guy Shaof, an Air Force urologist. The happy nuptials took place in Hawaii, but the colonel's second marriage ended in acrimony and divorce by 2004.
Informed sources say by the time Fay split from Shaof, she'd been seeing Fossella behind her husband's back for at least two years. At any rate, the sexy colonel, the exact opposite of flat-chested and mannish-looking Maj. Jill Metzger, didn't hesitate to have a baby with her married playmate, despite UCMJ prohibitions against adultery in the military.
Complicating this case was the fact Fay was still wed while sneaking around with Fossella, and the phony, fake and fraudulent "family values" conservative was cheating on his wife and three kids back in Staten Island, New York.
Still, Fay was allowed to retire on a fat pension and benefited from the hypocritical double-standard afforded attractive, and even not-so-good-looking female officers, who know the right people and get a special break when it comes to obeying the rules.
REMEMBER "CAPT. AMERIKA?" - ANOTHER FEMALE OFFICER
WHO AVOIDED PUNISHMENT FOR ALLEGED UCMJ VIOLATIONS
Readers of MilitaryCorruption.com will recall our coverage of the "Capt. Amerika" case back in 2006 when a married female officer allegedly had an affair with "Yoda-like" Air Force Gen. Michael T. Hayden (see related stories box below). Despite video tapes supplied the IG and MCC of the hot-blooded officer performing sex acts clearly prohibited under the UCMJ, the hard-charging female got promoted to major and hidden out of view in the Air Force Reserve.
A similar situation existed with Fay. When that officer's first military marriage hit the rocks, instead of an investigation or Article 31 hearing, the leggy blonde was simply transferred far away and protected from any possible punishment for "adultery" or "conduct unbecoming an officer."
We doubt a male officer who so blatantly committed adultery - Fay's four year-old daughter with Fossella is proof of her illicit affair - would get off so easy. What do you think? Write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
