THERE'S MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE HERE
WHY DID COMMAND THROW KITCHEN SINK AT
AIRBORNE GENERAL? - WAS JEFFREY SINCLAIR
"SET UP?" - WAS IT A MALE OR FEMALE HE SAID
TO HAVE "SODOMIZED?" - WHAT IS MEANT BY

"FORCIBLE SODOMY" CAN BE SPELLED "R-A-P-E"

It's almost as rare as watching a pig fly through the air.
I enlisted in 1966 for Vietnam and retired a multi-tour combat veteran and "Mustang" officer 33 years later, yet I cannot quite recall anything like this. It's absolutely incredible.
For a time, I was privileged to serve as aide to the late Gen. Peter Genovese, a good and decent man. But some of the other generals I observed during that time, were a collection of egomaniacs, whore masters and drunken degenerates. Yet I never saw a flag officer in as much trouble as BG Jeffrey Sinclair finds himself in today.
The Command has literally thrown everything at him but the kitchen sink. And if they can make even a few of the myriad of charges stick, he may be the first Army general to do hard time at the Leavenworth DB.
MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS
It must have been humiliating for him to have his mug-photo-like visage, beady-eyed and looking like a dead man in dirty-brown fatigues, splashed on front pages all across the country. When we ran his pix with our BULLETIN story here on MilitaryCorruption.com (see "related stories box" below), we recorded almost a half million hits in just a few hours.
As they say in the news business, this story is hot, and it has "legs."
There are plenty of questions that need answers:
Who did Sinclair piss off high enough up the chain-of-command to bring this much hell down on top of him?
Was it a male or female subordinate that the general allegedly "forcibly sodomized?" And were they a minority?
Speaking of "forcibly sodomized," isn't that phrase another way of saying R-A-P-E? That can land a soldier in the DB for up to 40 years.
What's with the charge "wrongful sexual contact?" Is there a "rightful" way in this case? Does that mean Sinclair is a "kinky" guy and doesn't practice the missionary position?
Was the general "set up?" If so, it won't be the first time a senior officer was done in that way.
NOT ALWAYS AS THEY SHOULD BE
I recall my shock as a 20 year-old NCO seeing a drunken chaplain yukking it up with "the old man" in the head shed at Pleiku. My innocence was such I didn't know priests buggered young boys and Army padres sometimes played around with the Red Cross girls.
As for booze, there was plenty of that in Nam. The troops had beer and drugs, and the brass drank the hard stuff.
Two of the charges against Sinclair are that he consumed alcohol in Afghanistan and looked at porn in a combat zone. You don't think that's happened a lot of times already, whether in Baghdad or Kabul? He's not the first man to do that, and he won't be the last.
PARSING A WORD FROM THE PRESS CONFERENCE
We spent a few years as a public affairs officer for the generals and even taught the trade once or twice. The colonel who came out to hold a press conference at Bragg Thursday morning, the youthful COL Kevin V. Arata, used a very interesting word when he talked about the next step in the Sinclair case, an Article 32 hearing. He said the proceeding is "expected" to be open to the public. Want to take a bet on that?
Why would the Pentagon want all the sordid details to get out?

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Don't be surprised if the next sex scandal to break comes out of West Point, where we hear a certain three-star is trying to keep a lid on the results of an IG investigation. His alleged gal pal has a high position at USMA and is said to be "more powerful than a colonel" thanks to her association with the head man. He, we're told, is the one who got her the job in the first place.]
