Usually it's the NCIS that does the arrests, but in the case of Lt. JG Terry Hampleton, a security officer assigned to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service's security training and assessment team, this time, the "suspect" was one of their own. In fact, the 38 year-old South Carolina native remains assigned to NCIS pending his upcoming court-martial.
The former CPO and master at arms, who has over 20 years military service, has pleaded "not guilty" to charges he raped an underage girl and committed adultery with a female sailor.
Court papers show that the alleged crimes occurred between June of 2006 and January of last year.
Hampleton faces a court martial at San Diego on charges of rape, failure to obey a regulation and adultery.
Identities of his alleged victims have not been released, however it is expected at trial, his accusers will testify against the career Navy man.
