Debra Harrison thought she had it made.

An Army Reserve lieutenant colonel in a Norristown, Pa. unit, the hard-charging officer apparently figured she'd get away with accepting bribes from crooked contractors in Iraq. But her greed tripped her up.

Now she's been sentenced to prison for 30 months. Harrison has lost her military retirement pension, her liberty, and been socked with a huge fine, in excess of $360,000.

From 2004 - 2005, the admitted cheat was riding high at the Coalition Provisional Authority - South Central Region (CPA-SC) - in Al-Hillah, Iraq. There, she met crooked contractor Philip Bloom, who not only bribed officers like Harrison, but provided prostitutes for bigshots invited to parties at his opulent Baghdad villa.

Harrison stupidly left a "paper trail" for the Feds when she "thanked" Bloom by e-mail for her new Cadillac Escalade, purchased with bribe money he paid her in Iraq.

ONE-TIME "FAVORITE" OF THE USAR BRASS

It's a far fall for the one-time favorite of some of the brass hats in her USAR unit. The colonel was extremely unpopular with many of the female officers and enlisted women in Norristown who suspected she was sleeping with the boss.

Harrison "got what was coming to her," in the words of one female field-grade. She, like most of her colleagues, told us she'd had a fill of the 49 year-old Trenton, N.J. woman's antics.

Pleading guilty to a single count of wire fraud saved Harrison from going away for a much longer stretch. She had originally been charged with money-laundering, illegal possession of a firearm, and of course, bribery. That all together, could have netted her three decades behind bars.

The corrupt colonel, who survived an IED attack in Iraq and is holder of both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, never dreamed she'd be caught. Now her biggest "nightmare" is about to begin.
