MORE MISSISSIPPI "MUD" - STATE GUARD
CORRUPTION AND COVER-UPS - INTEL POURS IN
TO MILITARYCORRUPTION.COM IN WAKE OF OUR
REPORT ON MATT HASSLOCH CASE - CAN GOV.
BARBOUR AFFORD FOUR MORE YEARS OF GEN
CROSS AS TAG? - DID COLONEL "GUNNING" FOR
CAPTAIN HAVE AFFAIR WITH YOUNG FEMALE
OFFICER? - WAS SHE THE ONE ACTUALLY
RESPONSIBLE FOR "LOST" EQUIPMENT?
Our hard-hitting story "GOOD OLE BOYS" etc., where we exposed how deceitful Mississippi National Guard officials tried to destroy the life and career of an honest captain - Matt Hassloch - (see "related stories box" at end of this article), has resulted in a flood of INTEL pouring into us here reporting long-term wrong-doing in that Deep South military organization.
When CPT Hassloch assumed command of HHC, 1-185th Avn. Bn. at Tupelo, Miss., little did he know that his predecessor as captain of that unit reportedly was having an affair with a certain colonel in their chain-of-command.
The top-notch chopper pilot, whose only "crime" was to refuse to become "fall-guy" when more than $600,000 in equipment turned up "missing," wisely declined to sign the hand-receipt. He instituted what any incoming commander should do - a complete inventory. Hassloch is completely blameless in this situation. But what about disciplinary action for the captain responsible for the "lost" equipment? It, after all, occurred on her watch. And what about her "boyfriend" colonel who abused his authority and tried to cover-up for the female officer while unfairly attempting to pin blame on an innocent man?
NO ACCOUNTABILTY FOR INCOMPETENCE AND WRONG-DOING
GEN Harold Cross knew full well the injustice done to Hassloch but chose to look the other way. For that egregious lack of "leadership," we feel he should put in his papers or be asked to "retire." Gov. Haley Barbour doesn't need someone leading his National Guard who is prone to cover-ups and exhibits such disloyalty towards his junior officers.
What has happened in the meantime to those who deserve disciplinary action? Well, the married light colonel is now a full bird and his full-time Guard "galpal" has been promoted to major with just four years time-in-grade as an 0-3. On the other hand, Capt. Hassloch lost his promising career in the Guard, was forced to spend money on a lawyer, and he and his family have suffered from stress and harassment.
If only the politicians had listened to COL Jody Bryant, the original "whistle blower" in the Miss. Guard, when he complained about wide scale corruption and offenses ranging from fraud to racial discrimination.
An independent investigation by a Florida National Guard IG substantiated many of the allegations Bryant made, but the TAG, Gen. Cross and his political pals made sure a minimum of punishment was meted out.
This type of "cronyism" and cover-up is totally unacceptable.
"Things are very tense here," said a deep cover source, who's a senior officer at state headquarters. Everyone's afraid to speak out. That's why we need you people at MCC and the Mississippi news media to get involved. Cross is widely disliked and feared. We need a new TAG. The same old gang won't change a thing."
MEMO TO NGB (NATIONAL GUARD BUREAU)
Gentlemen, you have a big problem down in Mississippi.
We don't enjoy writing one article after the other on wrongdoing there, but we've got plenty of ammo ready to fire if needed. We are locked and loaded. Do you really want our nearly two million readership per month and all the media outlets in the state of Mississippi to read about other scandals, such as in 2005 when MSARNG troops were deployed to Iraq? An ugly incident occurred where at least one female was "force fed" liquor, underwent a bizarre honorary "CIB" pinning, and saw officers and enlisted members "so drunk they were throwing up in garbage cans and juggling grenades in their hands."
Don't make us hammer the Mississippi Guard again and again. Make the phone calls, co-ordinate with Gov. Barbour, and "clean house." Now. We demand justice for Capt. Hassloch and new and competent leadership at the highest levels of the state Guard.
