PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICES TRY OLD
TRICKS - MILITARYCORRUPTION.COM DIGS
OUT THE FACTS NONETHELESS

It's an old trick that public affairs officers have used for years. You won't find it written down in any textbooks at DINFOS, but it goes like this: when you have bad or embarrassing news you don't want given much coverage, simply wait a few days until around 1600 on a Friday and then release a partial account to as few media outlets as possible.

That's what the folks at Lackland tried to get away with.

Capt. Edward Hudson got ten years at Leavenworth DB for "molesting" two young children. His court-martial was concluded early in the week. But the PAO, emboldened by the fact ace reporter Rod Hafemeister is no longer on scene for Air Force TIMES to watch out for such a stunt, tried to pull it off. We at MilitaryCorruption.com caught them anyway.

You should know, guys, we've got "eyes and ears" all over Lackland, San Antonio (and Boerne, Tex.)

NONCOM ARRESTED IN NORTH CAROLINA ON "CHILD PORN" RAP

Meanwhile, over at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina, a staff sergeant was charged with 10 counts of "sexual exploitation of a minor." And the PAO there didn't even provide the age of the accused airman.

We will. The NCO, Aldo Cesar Ruiz, is 29. The sergeant is also a native of Peru and now a U.S. citizen. That wasn't in the skimpy Air Force press release either.

Bond was set at $750,000 for Ruiz. He faces trial on December 20th. Not a good place to be, five days before Christmas.

Despite the meager info from official sources, MCC has learned Ruiz, a member of the 4th Logistical Readiness Squadron, was arrested by officers from the Wayne County (N.C.) Sheriff's Office.

He's accused of "exploitation" of a minor, which probably indicates illicit photographs of some kind are part of the offense.

OFFICER TAKES THE STAND IN HIS CHILD "SEX ABUSE" COURT-MARTIAL

Back in Texas, prosecutors said Hudson had committed indecent acts with a 9 year-old girl in November of 2000 and again the following year, when she was ten. The incidents allegedly occurred in Japan and later in Florida.

A second rap was the officer "molested" a girl in Texas in January 2006, when she was only 8, then attacked her again three months later. At least that's what the prosecution claimed.

Hudson pleaded "not guilty" and testified during the trial. It didn't do him much good.

Some of his friends and colleagues think he's been framed.

Stories like these, even if the Air Force PAO try to "downplay" them, don't do any good for recruiting, retention or the public image of the vast majority of our "boys in blue," who are a credit to our country and the armed forces.

That is your responsibility. Let's hear from some more of you, especially those "in the know" who served at Manas AFB and at a certain major hospital center in Germany.]
