MARINE LT. COLONEL COURT-MARTIALED
FOR INDECENT ASSAULT ON TEENAGE BOY

Otis Griffin Jr. was comptroller for the 1st Marine Air wing on Okinawa and was waiting for promotion to full
colonel. He had 26 years service with the Corps, but that came all crashing down on him.

The lt. colonel was convicted at court-martial on indecent assault charges.

A 16 year-old boy had complained to military police and Griffin's once-sterling career lay in ruins.

The court-martial found Griffin guilty of "indecent exposure" and "wrongful solicitation charges." The Marine
officer also was convicted of using "indecent language" with the teenage boy and an enlisted Marine.

The 50 year-old field-grade was sentenced to six months in the brig and dismissal from the Marine Corps.
Griffin was also ordered to forfeit all pay and allowances.
