NAVY DOCTOR GETS SIX MONTHS
FOR SOLICITING SEX WITH FEMALE PATIENTS
Camp Lejeune, N.C. - A Navy captain who headed the base hospital mental health department at Camp Lejeune, N.C. has been sentenced to six months in jail and a dishonorable discharge for soliciting sex from patients.
The 30 year-career of Capt. Scott R. McClelland crashed in flames after the three-day court martial handed down its sentence. The 52 year-old doctor, who served his first two years of commissioned service as a Marine artillery officer, could have received up to 11 years imprisonment.
He pled guilty to five charges: failure to obey an order or regulation, sodomy, adultery and two counts of conduct unbecoming an officer. McClelland apologized to his three female victims, just before sentencing.
The case against the captain was cinched when one of the women, the wife of a Marine sergeant, recorded his solicitations with a hidden tape recorder.
