Tell the truth, and you get in trouble - big trouble for an Army Green Beret officer who sought to inform Congress our policy on recovering American prisoners-of-war is incoherent.
LTC Jason Amerine, a decorated hero of the fighting in Afghanistan, was retaliated against, he says, once the Pentagon found out he was blowing the whistle on a White House attempt to break the law by paying a ransom for dirt-bag "deserter," SGT Bowe Bergdahl.
The 44 year-old Special Forces veteran revealed to Congressman Duncan Hunter, R-Calif. - that the U.S. Command had attempted to pay a monetary ransom for dirt-bag deserter Bergdahl, despite it being against official U.S. policy and federal law.
"I did my duty and you need to ensure all in uniform can go on doing their duty without fear of reprisal, Amerine testified before Congress this week.
Amerine was targeted from the get-go, he says..
"After I made protected disclosures to Congress, the Army came after me with a vengeance," The field-grade said.
A West Point graduate, Amerine claims he has been retaliated against because the FBI and others were angry that Congressman Hunter disclosed the Obama administration had tried to pay a "ransom" for Bergdahl, which is a violation of U.S. Law.
