JEFF "CHILLY" WINTERThe Navy just lost one of its best and most experienced pilots because, to put it frankly, Jeff "Chilly" Winter couldn't keep his - - - - in his pants.

It's an age-old story. High-ranking officer has affair with female junior officer, gets caught, and career is over. Of course, we all know if the officer is of flag rank, well, that's a different story. Different spanks for different ranks.

But for a hot pilot like Winter, a former instructor at the Navy's famed TOP GUN fighter-pilot school, for him, this is the end of the line.

The 46 year-old USNA graduate (Class of 1989) is going to walk the plank.

"HE STEPPED ON HIS D - - K"

Winter will never be an admiral now, but perhaps his deputy, CAPT Matt Leahey, might make it, if he doesn't get in a jam like his ex-boss. Leahey has been named the new commander, at least for now, at CVS-17.

"Chilly," meanwhile has been reassigned to Naval Air Forces at North Island, where he undoubtedly is working on updating his retirement papers.

It's a loss for Naval aviation. Winter was one of the best, most experienced pilots in the fleet, with 4000 hours in the air and more than 800 successful carrier landings.

Unlike the 1980's movie TOP GUN, where Tom Cruise, a really "hot" pilot, got to bed down some bodacious babes, this is 2013, and that sort of carousing has its cost.

CAPT Jeff Winter found that out the hard way this week.
