Lock him up and throw away the key!
Psycho SGT John Russell who killed five American service members "in cold blood" at a mental health clinic in Iraq will never get the chance to pull the trigger again.
The doofus-looking non-com clearly has mental problems, but Army prosecutor LTC Robert Stelle wasn't about in any way to let Russell off the hook for his calculated criminal deeds.
GETTING "MAD" TURNS INTO "MURDER"
The 48 year-old NCO said he was pissed because head-shrinkers at Camp Liberty's clinic didn't give him the medical discharge he'd been seeking.
That triggered a bloody rampage that left Navy CMDR Keith Springle, Army MAJ Matthew Houseal, SGT Christian Bueno-Galdos, SPC Jacob Barton, and PFC Michael Yates, dead from gunshot wounds.
The first victim was Houseal, who was hit by rifle fire when Russell cowardly stalked him at a back window of the clinic building.
Still, civilian defense attorney James Culp tried to garner sympathy for his client by telling the court at Joint Base Lewis-McChord his client had flipped out because "the lack of compassion he (Russell) received (from clinic doctors) lent itself to despair."
LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE?
The military judge, COL David Conn, wasn't buying that BS. He sentenced the pathetic blob of misshapen flesh in front of him to life in prison.
Too bad the families of Russell's victims didn't get to form a firing squad. That would save the taxpayers a pretty penny over the next 30 years.
All that remains of this tragic case now is the sentencing phase, in which both prosecution and defense will argue over whether Russell ever gets parole.
