WHO DARED PRAY "IN JESUS NAME"
The craziness continues in the U.S. Navy Chaplains Corps.
Lt. Gordon Klingenschmitt, the devout Protestant chaplain who defied an order not to "pray in Jesus name" because it might "offend" non-believers and those of other faiths, has gotten the boot. He is being kicked out of the Navy after almost 16 years of service with no pension. His career has been destroyed.
In a statement given to MilitaryCorruption.com and other news media, the chaplain said: "This fight has cost me everything. My career is over, my family is now homeless, we've lost a million dollar pension, but Congress agreed with me and rescinded the Navy policy, so chaplains are free again to pray in Jesus name. My sacrifice purchased their freedom. My conscience is clear. The fight was worth it, and I'd do it again. Because of my sacrifice, other chaplains will have the liberty I was denied. Praise be to God, in Jesus name."
The 38 year-old chaplain, a graduate of the Air Force Academy, and his wife Mary are asking for prayers of fellow Americans "at this difficult time."
DISCRIMINATION AGAINST EVANGELICAL PROTESTANT CHAPLAINS
Those in the know have been aware for some time that a certain "good old boy" clique from the most powerful religious denomination in the Navy's chaplains corps has been agitating to get rid of the evangelical Klingenschmitt for a long time.
We urge our readers to "click on" our prior stories [see below] we have written on this case. MilitaryCorruption.com "salutes" Chaplain Klingenschmitt for his courage of conviction. He should be allowed to stay in the military at least long enough to qualify for a retirement pension. We feel his brutal treatment at the hands of the brass is a terrible black mark on the United States Navy.
With the arrogant and obnoxious Donald Rumsfeld now on the discard heap of history, we would like to think new Secretary of Defense Robert Gates would intervene here on the side of truth and honor and prevent such a travesty of justice from taking place.
How many top-ranking chaplains in the Navy, and other branches, are serving right now yet have crimes in their background that would send lesser beings to prison? And they, like the hypocritical Pharisees of old Bibical times, piously sit in judgement on a chaplain whose only offense was he refused to bow down to absurd "political correctness" and deny his Lord.
