FACES BRIBERY, CONSPIRACY, THEFT RAP
When his irate wife balked at a three-way "live-in" arrangement with his pregnant girlfriend, Army Capt. Cedar Lanmon found out just how much trouble an angry woman can stir up.
Back from his second tour of duty in Iraq, the crooked captain didn't anticipate how much of a fuss his wife would make. Now he knows. The Feds have charged him with bribery, conspiracy and stealing valuable artifacts and religious objects from Iraq.
The Fort Lewis-based officer has yet to enter a plea in the case. He faces a preliminary hearing at federal court in Tacoma, Wash. on December 6th. The Army has temporarily shipped the 30 year-old captain off to Ft. Jackson, S.C. where he'll wait to see if he ends up going to the slammer.
Lanmon remains "innocent until proven guilty," but informed sources tell MilitaryCorruption.com he has "a high hill to climb" to avoid jail time.
ACCUSED CAPTAIN USED CONTACTS TO SHAKE-DOWN CONTRACTOR BRIBES
According to court documents, Lanmon is accused of receiving a $25,000 bribe from an Albanian contractor who the captain helped land a quarter-million dollar deal to build "berms" at a military base in Ballad, Iraq.
Capt. Lanmon allegedly got $5,000 under-the-table from an Iraqi man to introduce the businessman to a contracting officer.
Besides the laundered bribe money, the officer took out of Iraq several "handmade area rugs, a necklace valued at approximately $700," and a stolen religious artifact from an archeological dig in the ancient city of Ur.
Lanmon's wife isn't exactly innocent in the matter. She admitted to the CID when she "sicced" them on the captain, she was well aware of her husband's alleged "dirty dealings," but was content to enjoy the fruits of his endeavors. She told authorities the proceeds of his activities funded "home-improvement projects, laser eye surgery" for her and "investments."
But that was before the ultimate insult of her husband trying to get her to accept his pregnant girlfriend living under the same roof in a crude "ménage a trois."
