All Jeneesa Lewis wanted for herself and her three kids back in Tennessee was a new start in life and a chance to begin over as a soldier in the United States Army.
The slender 29 year-old, popular with her fellow GI's at the 5-52 Air Defense Artillery Bn. (11th Brigade) at Fort Bliss, Tex., didn't show up for PT or work Friday (July 18) and that caused concerned friends to check out the private's off-post apartment.
"It was all torn up," a police source told MilitaryCorruption.com. "There was evidence of foul play." Investigators found "blood splattered" in the apartment and Jeneesa's white 2001 Dodge Dakota pick-up gone.
Also missing is Clinton Lewis, 34, the soldier's unemployed, dead-beat husband. Pals told police the couple had been having marital troubles and Jeneesa feared for her life.
Lewis has a long police record back in Tennessee, where he and his wife lived before Jeneesa joined the Army in 2007. An ex-con who did time on drug charges, Lewis has also been convicted of assault, theft and DUI.
A massive dragnet has been launched by police trying to find the missing truck and occupants. Some observers fear Lewis may have killed the female soldier and gone somewhere out in the desert to dispose of the body.
SISTER SAYS JENEESA TOLD HER OF TROUBLE'S WITH DEAD-BEAT HUSBAND
The couple's three children - 4-year-old Clifton Jr., 7-year old Gabrielle Buttry, and 9-year-old Toni Marie Buttry - live in Tennessee with Jeneesa's sister Tammy Skelton.
Tammy told reporters the last word she had from Jeneesa was when the PFC sent her a text message July 17 saying police had come to her aid after another brawl with her husband. "Yeah, he's gone. Had police go with me yesterday. It's all clear." the private messaged her sis.
Investigators think Clifton Lewis returned to the couple's apartment sometime Friday morning, beat his wife and took off with her in the Dodge pick-up.
Skelton told newsmen her sister "wanted to make a new life for herself and the kids without having to depend on anyone. Jeneesa wanted to stand on her own two feet."
Let's hope and pray that she still can.

Army SPC Megan Touma's body was discovered in a motel near Fort Bragg, N.C. in June. Both Touma and Lauterback were pregnant at the time they were killed.
