Where did he go wrong?

Donald Young was destined for greatness, perhaps even a general's star someday. Now, chances are he will end up behind bars for many years to come.

The 49 year-old former Army Reserve light colonel from Hernando, Fl. was the youngest man ever elected to the New Hampshire state legislature at 21. He earned a Green Beret in the Army and served honorably during the Gulf War.

By 2010 his world came crashing down around him.

A RAPID DESCENT TO THE BOTTOM

The youngest man ever elected to the New Hampshire legislature, Young was disbarred as a lawyer for allegedly mishandling client funds. Then he got in trouble in Afghanistan. Something about him grabbing up two humvees for his personal use.

The feds were also picking him up on their radar screen. Young lived a lavish lifestyle, with luxury cars, fancy homes and expensive vacations. Where was all that money coming from? How could he afford such expensive things on a lieutenant colonel's retirement check?

When investigators dug deeper, they discovered a scam to siphon off $54 million in government funds earmarked for operations in Afghanistan.

TWO CONTRACTORS INDICTED WITH YOUNG

Apparently Young had accomplices in his suspected criminal behavior because indicted along with him were two other men.

They are Christopher Harris, 48, of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Michael Taylor, boss of Boston-based American International Security Corporation.

Included in the 72 count federal indictment were charges of bribery, money laundering and wire fraud which could bring the accused men up to 50 years in prison each.

MilitaryCorruption.com has learned that Harris may be helping the feds and might end up testifying against his former friends in exchange for a lighter sentence or some charges dropped.
