This wouldn't likely fly in a civilian courtroom. But in the Air Force, where if you make flag rank, you are immune from court-martial (no general officer there has been taken to an Article 32 hearing, much less trial, in that military service's 65-year history), a fighter-pilot and former inspector general at Aviano, Italy has been found "guilty" of sexual assault based on "she said/he said" and absolutely no forensic evidence.
Lt. Col. James Wilkerson faces up to 40 years in prison, dismissal from the Air Force, and forfeiture of all pay and allowances when he is sentenced. MilitaryCorruption.com readers are advised to "click" on us several times a day as we will run a BULLETIN with the final penalty result as soon as we can.
Kudos to STARS & STRIPES for covering the story. As usual, AIR FORCE TIMES has dropped the ball and, as of our press time, has not covered the court martial or verdict. We shouldn't be surprised, since that thinner and thinner tabloid's arrogant and obnoxious editor failed to report Maj. Jill Metzger-Mayo's getting a "valor" award from a three-star general at Travis AFB for her "escape" from so-called "kidnappers" in Kyrgyzstan.
FEMALE "VICTIM" CLAIMS COLONEL
FONDLED HER BREASTS IN BED
In the case of Wilkerson, a former pilot with the 31st Fighter Wing, he was accused of climbing into bed with a female guest at his home, and allegedly fondling her breasts.
The 49 year-old accuser, a physicians assistant at Aviano, claimed she woke up during the "assault" and left the house around 0300 hours on March 23rd, this year.
Beth Wilkerson, the colonel's wife, testified that she was in bed with her husband and heard the woman "pacing the floor" upstairs. She testified she asked the woman to either go to sleep or leave the house. Mrs. Wilkerson said the female departed soon after.
"THE SPAWN OF SATAN," INDEED
The fire-breathing prosecutor, Col. Don Christensen, made an interesting remark when he was trying to portray the "victim" as without malice in the case.
He cited she didn't know Wilkerson until a few hours before a party ended at the former I.G's home.
Then he said, " . . . (she) had no motive to perjure herself, go through a trial, destroy this man, destroy his life, destroy his son. You'd have to believe she is pure evil, a spawn of Satan."
We don't know if she's lying or not, but if she is, she won't be the first psychotic female in the world who falsely accused someone, then secretly celebrated being the cause of that person's destruction.
Count yourself lucky your name isn't James Wilkerson and you're facing loss of your military career and a long stretch behind bars.
