How many of you out there know that there's a clause in many leases which allow active duty military personnel to get out of a lease without paying a penalty, if they receive orders transferring them out of the area?
Randall Scott Pike knew about it. Only problem was, he wasn't in the military, let alone on active duty.
The 40 year-old native of Vero Beach, Fla. figured he could save himself big bucks and break his lease in San Antonio at the same time, if he could get away with portraying himself as an Army field-grade officer.
MAY CUT A PLEA BARGAIN
Investigators said "Major" Pike - he's the former civilian chief of an anti-terrorism response force at Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston - conspired with Larry Fenti, former chief administrator in the Radiology Department of Brooke Army Medical Center, to "dummy up" some phony transfer orders.
Pike was nabbed, and now sources tell MilitaryCorruption.com the phony Army officer is ready to cooperate with authorities and testify against Fenti.
The New Braunfells, Tex. man and his former boss at Brooke, Heidi Webster, got their tails caught in a crack when they were charged with bribery and wire fraud for allegedly rigging bids on contracts related to MRI's.
