EFFORT BY WHAT SOME CALL "POLITICAL WHORE"
It looks like Sen. Barack Obama has been sold a bill of goods when he took on the support of former right-wing Republican and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Merrill McPeak.
The arrogant élitist from Oregon won't win many military votes for his current presidential candidate.
The widely-hated brasshat once headed up the Bob Dole military veteran effort in his home state. Four years later, McPeak was a cheerleader and chairman of the George Bush campaign in Oregon.
Somewhere between 2000 and the next election, McPeak got piqued when the dimwit in the White House didn't reward him with a sufficiently prestigious job as political patronage. So he made a few headlines going over to the Democrats and endorsing Howard Dean. After "the screamer" self-destructed, McPeak shifted his support to, of all people, John Kerry, the self-proclaimed war "hero" who dissed and backstabbed all us Vietnam veterans during his hippie anti-war period.
That candidacy failed as well. So now McPeak, ever the parasite, has attached himself to the Obama campaign. Apparently he's looking for a top post in the Defense Department if the Illinois senator is successful. Old-timers in the Air Force tell MilitaryCorruption.com they dread the day McPeak reacquires power and is able to do more damage to our men and women in blue.
McPEAK'S TENURE AS AIR FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF A LEGACY OF FAILURE
"I'm a retired senior NCO who thinks McPeak was a disaster as Air Force chief of staff. We're still paying a high price for that man's incompetence."
But that assessment is a "valentine" compared to what others have written.
"As a retired chief master sergeant, I recall during his PACAF command, he was hated by every officer in my chain-of-command and most of the enlisted personnel I worked with. McPeak was hell-bent on turning our Air Force into some sort of social experiment."
Bob Rushing, a retired master sergeant willing to sign his name, said Gen. McPeak "never had the respect of those under his command because he openly showed he had no respect for them. People are known by the company they keep. McPeak is an élitist snob."
One officer who wished to remain anonymous wrote "McPeak is the last person who should talk about integrity, honor and military service. I served under him at the time he practically destroyed the Strategic Air Command. Almost everyone despised him for his irrational changes to the structure of SAC. It was a reign of terror. Nobody dared to confront him."
We could go on and on with more adverse comments, but our readers have gotten the point
FORMER GENERALS AND ADMIRALS BECOME POLITICAL "PROSTITUTES"
Guys like McPeak - fired former Gen. Wesley Clark and the ultimate outlaw, the late Admiral William "forced anthrax shots" Crowe - may wear a lot of ribbons on their chest, but they just prostitute themselves and their so-called "prestige" for personal profit.
Doing research on this martinet, we found McPeak had wasted millions of dollars of taxpayers money on a stupid and faulty "redesign" of the Air Force blue uniform. To hell with morale and providing real leadership. This obnoxious ex-general is, was, and always will be a bull in a china shop. He tries to "fix" what isn't broken, and whatever he touches, he ruins.
If you have enough rank and friends in high places, flunkies are there to clean up after you. You're not held to account for what you have done. Obama never served in the U.S. military and hasn't a clue on how little McPeak brings to the campaign table.
Now, the opportunistic politician - Gen. McPeak we mean - has stuck his foot into his mouth with a sanctimonious remark about "McCarthyism." As co-chairman of the Obama campaign, McPeak - who always loved to get in front of a microphone - slammed ex-President Bill Clinton with a pious pronouncement about the evil ex-senator from Wisconsin.
"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it."
Oh, really? Let's see. Sen. McCarthy died in 1957. If you were really so upset, why didn't you quit the Republicans back then? Why wait more than 40 years? Somehow, general, your protestations seem hollow.
WE'RE NOT FOR DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS
MCC BACKS OUR BROTHER AND SISTER VETERANS
We don't carry water on this web site for any political party. We've exposed Kerry and others of his ilk on these pages while blasting to hell and back George Bush for lying us into an unnecessary war which has cost our country dearly in lives and treasure.
MilitaryCorruption.com never hesitated in taking on that megalomaniac, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, or the odious war profiteer, Dick "Halliburton" Cheney.
Like Rhett Butler in "Gone with the Wind," we "frankly don't give a damn" whose political feathers we ruffle.
Our mission is to fight for truth and expose the corrupt. We are dedicated to reforming the Uniform Code of Military Justice and killing dead, once and for all, the horrible Feres Doctrine (contact our friend, Jeff Trueman at firstname.lastname@example.org for details).
Whenever politicians deceive and disrespect our nation's veterans; when their hollow promises fail to properly fund VA programs; when billions of dollars are wasted by the neo-CONS, whose only interest in Iraq was getting rich and richer, we will speak out! Count on it.
Bush can't leave soon enough for us, but fellow Americans and especially veterans, be very, very careful who you vote for in this 2008 election. Running up the white flag is no solution to the mess Bush got us into. Let's bring our troops home responsibly and with honor, not in a pell-mell defeat and retreat that will only postpone and lead to an even bloodier conflict in the Middle East.
Contact the Obama campaign and tell them what you think of McPeak. Before it's too late.
