The fourth top enlisted sailor to be fired so far this year is Command Master Chief Meondra Kendley.

A 26-year Navy veteran, the African-American female was canned, according to one source, for "poor job performance."

Kendley had been top enlisted person at the San Antonio Recruiting District. She was relieved by her boss, CMDR Jonathan Lovejoy. The East St. Louis, Illinois native had been in that billet since July 2009.

FEW DETAILS OF FIRING AVAILABLE

No reason other than the usual boilerplate - "loss of confidence" - was officially given for the unusual personnel move. The Navy public affairs office said further details would not be forthcoming.

The female E-9 had begun her Naval career as a cryptologic technician in 1985.

She is the latest CMC to be canned since the beginning of the year.

OTHER TOP ENLISTED MEMBERS CANNED

On Jan. 5, Senior Chief Yeoman Savan Patel was fired after being picked up on a drunken driving charge. He was chief of boat on the USS Louisville, a Los Angeles class submarine.

Three weeks later, CMC Kevin Coleman was relieved after he was nabbed on a DUI offense.

Earlier in February, CMC Ron Burnett was sacked for "inappropriate" touching of a female.
