In the ten years MilitaryCorruption.com has been online, we have never seen such an outpouring of anger and frustration via e-mail as now, after breaking the news (see "related stories box" below) that alleged "kidnapping" victim, Maj. Jill Metzger, has returned to active duty with the Air Force after receiving three years of payments as "100% disabled."
The well plugged-in former poster girl and two-time Air Force Marathon winner outraged many lesser mortals wearing "blue" when she arrogantly ran and competed in both the Air Force and Marine Corps Marathons the year after she was awarded a 100% "disability" pension for PTSD. Who else could pull off a stunt like this - waltzing right into a major's slot - as if nothing had happened at all? It helps to have "friends" in high places. Especially one much-feared "four-star" friend, known to crush anyone who gets in his way.
This is a mockery of equal treatment under the law, an insult to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and a slap in the face to all other Air Force officers and enlisted members who can't and don't receive such "special treatment" by the top generals at the Pentagon. Chief of Staff, Gen. Norton Schwartz should hang his head in shame. His fellow four-star, the bloat-faced bully, Gen. Gary North, could care less. He is the most powerful general in today's Air Force, and he and everyone under him knows it.
"What does she have on North?" asks a curious retired colonel and AFA grad. "It must be good."
METZGER'S "STORY" RIVALED "THE DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK"
We at MilitaryCorruption.com have investigated the Jill Metzger cover-up ever since we smelled fraud back in September 2006. That was when the pampered and protected one came up with the fantastic story that she been "kidnapped" in Kyrgyzstan, and after three days of captivity, managed to "overpower" one of her guards and run, bare foot and most of the way naked, for some 30 miles to freedom. Yeah, right. If you believe that, we've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you - real cheap.
Two OSI agents who participated in the futile hunt for Metzger's "abductors" later told us she was probably lying. One of them, in a lengthy tape-recorded interview with MCC, was quoted as saying: "We were told to lay off her - that she had some general by the balls." Could that be the nasty and obnoxious Gary North, who did back flips to help Jill after others began to quietly question her specious story?
Over the past four years, we have dug out many facts in this case ignored by the timid and "politically-correct" mainstream media. Failing two polygraph tests, contradicting herself numerous times in an ever-changing story that rivaled "The Dog Ate My Homework," Metzger seemed immune to court-martial charges that surely would have followed anyone not married to an OSI agent and having a well-connected retired colonel daddy beating the drum of denial at home.
WHY NO MEDAL AWARDED FOR SUCH SELF-PROCLAIMED
FEATS OF HEROISM?
It's been four years since millions of taxpayer dollars were wasted hunting for the fictitious "kidnappers," and yet the arrogant Air Force "leadership" still refuses to issue a statement as to what really happened and why; if any of Metzger's self-proclaimed heroics were true; and why wasn't she awarded a medal, any medal, for such a dramatic feat of "derring-do."
The latest development, which is yet another blow to already low morale, has disgusted thousands of ordinary Air Force members who know they could never have gotten away with a tenth of what Metzger has. To them she is a terrible embarrassment and stain upon the Air Force. That high-ranking officers would go out of their way to accommodate her, goes well beyond the usual groveling "political-correctness." There is more to this story than meets the eye. If we ever get our hands on the original OSI report, and if someone is willing to go "on the record," despite loss of military career and pension, maybe somebody might finally be brought to justice.
No Air Force general has ever been taken to court martial, much less been convicted of a crime, so probably the "fall guy" here would be someone in between. Right now, Jill Metzger is clearly in charge of her destiny, as proven by her brazen move to strut back into an 0-4 slot as if her scandal had never taken place. We wouldn't be surprised to see her come up for promotion to lieutenant colonel as soon as she reaches minimum time-in-grade.
Jill Metzger. What's that old saying about CRIME DOESN'T PAY?
