In the Air Force, you can be destroyed for spitting on the sidewalk, or you can get a free pass, depending on who you are and who you "know."

Gen. Arthur Morrill, former vice-director of the Defense Logistics Agency, apparently made some highly-placed enemies during his nearly four decades of military service. He's "going out the back door" with one star removed from his rank. The ex-major general will find his retirement check $21,000 a year lighter than it could have been, after pious Air Force Secretary Michael Donley ordered him to retire at the lower grade.

We can't imagine anything like that happening to bloat-faced bully, four-star Gen. Gary North, already drooling over the next step up the ladder: chief of staff of the Air Force.

"INSURANCE POLICY"

The proverbial "800-pound gorilla in the living room" (see related stories box below), North is the most-feared - and in some quarters, despised - top general in the Air Force today. No one dares take him on. That's good news for Maj. Jill Metzger of "I was abducted in Kyrgyzstan and ran barefoot 40 miles to freedom BS." As long as her enabler is in a position to crush anyone else in a blue suit, there's no risk of the truth coming out about why she may have been "paid off" for her silence with a lucrative 100% "disability" pension.

What an insult and injustice for all those genuinely disabled or wounded in service to our country!

A feminist poster girl and two-time winner of the Air Force Marathon, with a powerful retired "daddy" colonel, and young, lower-ranking "husband" in the dreaded OSI (Office of Special Investigations), Metzger doesn't have to worry - at least for now - about the Air Force "leadership" being made to reveal the real story of what happened to the pampered and protected one, and why certain brass hats still do back flips to make sure the truth remains hidden. North in power is the best "insurance policy" she could have..

GET NO PUNISHMENT AT ALL

Morrill can consider himself unlucky to lose all that retirement money whenever he thinks of Metzger beating the system.

It's not that this guy did anything terrible. He didn't rape anyone, or molest children. He wasn't the top Air Force JAG and a major general who had sex with two dozen women and yet never spent a minute at an Article 32 hearing, much less a court-martial.

The former two-star hadn't lived with his wife since January 2006. They were divorced in 2009. Yet, because Morrill dated a civilian female - not even a member of the military - for a few months before the divorce decree was issued, the top brass and secretary of the Air Farce chose to drop the hammer on his head.

We think Michael Donley's energies and attention might be better focused on removing the stain of the Metzger cover-up and admitting that, as of this minute, there remains two standards of justice in the Air Force. For the unconnected, and another for the "insiders.."

As long as the double-standard of "justice" exists, morale will remain low in the U.S. Air Force.
