Police in Tarpon Springs, Fla. say a woman known as the "D.C. Madam" has committed suicide at her mother's home. The body of Deborah Jeanne Palfrey was found Thursday morning (May 1) in a shed near the house.
Allegedly a "suicide note" was found next to the body, but cops refused to disclose it contents.
Palfrey was convicted April 15 by a federal grand jury of masterminding a prostitution ring that catered to powerful men - both in the military and the highest levels of politics - as well as money laundering, using the mails for illegal purposes and racketeering.
She was due to be sentenced on July 24 and faced up to 55 years in prison.
ONE OF PALFREY'S PROSTITUTES WAS A NAVY LT COMMANDER
MilitaryCorruption.com has reported some of Palfrey's clients (see related stories box below) worked at the Pentagon and also were high up in the Bush Administration. One source, investigative reporter Wayne Madsen, said Vice President Dick Cheney may have been one of her clients.
A lieutenant commander in the Navy was recently disclosed to have worked as one of Palfrey's whores and made money on the side while working at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Md.
Months ago, this web site disclosed the Navy had tried to cover-up her activities, and after a "slap-on-the-wrist," the female officer was quietly transferred to a job elsewhere.
WAS IT "SUICIDE" OR MURDER?
Remember the old saying: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. In this case, Deborah Jeanne Palfrey, who threatened to release her list of clients to the news media when this case first broke late last year, is very much dead and now, certainly won't be able to threaten the rich and powerful anymore.
Was she murdered and the killing made to look like a suicide? Let's see the alleged "suicide" note and find out more.
But this case seems highly suspicious from the get go. Lots of people in high places had much to lose if Palfrey told all she knew. There was plenty of incentive to silence her for good.
