It's a bad combination any time - booze and babes, and for Lt. Col. Denis Paquette, it could lead to an early end to his 18 year-plus Air Force career.
The former instructor pilot at Laughlin AFB in Texas has been accused of "touching" the inner thigh of a drunken female A1C who, according to regulations, was unable to OK the unwanted move. In other words, the JAG likes to call it "being incapabe of consent.". At any rate, it has bought Paquette a lot of trouble
He goes on trial at Ramstein AFB in Germany next month, charged with fraternization and sexual assault. He also was nailed for consuming more than two drinks in a 24 hour period. The OSI says he turned a blind eye to subordinates getting stiff as well. And Sidi Ahmed Air Base in Tunisia is not a good place to get caught violating the rules about alcohol consumption.
The South Dakota State University graduate got in further trouble when he allegedly tried to "impede" the investigation. Paquette was with the 722nd Expeditionary Squadron at the time of the offenses, said to be summer of 2016. Prior to then, he was staff director at the 9th Air Mobility Wing.
