USAF LT COLONEL CHARGED WITH "SEXUAL

It was fun and games, especially on the weekends at the 722nd Expeditionary Squadron at Sidi Ahmed Air Base in Tunisia.
The unit's commander, Air Force Lt. Col. Denis Paquette, liked to party, and was fond of his booze, as well. So much so, that the rule whereby Airmen were allowed to consume no more than two alcoholic beverages in a 24-hour period was totally ignored. Some of the enlisted people even had beer and hard stuff socked away in their tents!
The atmosphere was one of lax discipline, where Paquette tried to be "pals" with the people he was supposed to lead and supervise. Pretty soon he started to be seen in the company of a comely 18 year-old security guard. The A1C female was a real looker, and didn't mind all the attention she was getting from her commanding officer.
But other members of the small unit did, and reported the suspected hijinks to the OSI. We reported (see Related Stories below) earlier in the year that Paquette had been charged with "sexual assault and fraternization." He also was tagged for "attempting to impede an investigation."
In other words, "good-time" Paquette was a real dumb ass.
DIFFERENT SPANKS FOR DIFFERENT RANKS
The former instructor pilot at Laughlin AFB in Texas had 18 years under his belt, but he won't be allowed to pass GO and/or collect $200. Instead, he has been dismissed from the service and forfeits what would have been a nice pension. "Good luck" trying to land a civilian airline pilot's job with bad paper like he has.
We have little sympathy for the dummy - he sent his teen-age gal pal a note saying when he touched her "inner thigh," it got him horny - but he still got hammered hard by a military judge at his Ramstein AFB court-martial. Remember Maj Gen. Thomas J. Fiscus?
That's right. He was the dorky-looking chief JAG of the Air Force who - at last count - had banged some 25 women - officer and enlisted - yet he got to retire, keep a reduced pension, and of course, escaped any jail time.
The Air Force should have made an example of this arrogant officer. But, by giving him a weak slap-on-the-wrist, they showed that USAF "core values" were hollow and proved senior officers usually get lighter punishment than others.
Be sure to read about Fiscus below, and then ask yourself if Paquette got a fair deal. He may be stupid, but Fiscus was the top man in the JAG, and he should have at least lost his pension - all of it. But his big shot buddies at the Pentagon got him off easy. A disgrace.
