Back when Patrick Edmond was a senior at Jim Hill High School in Jackson, Miss., the now 19 year-old was asked what his ultimate aim was in life.

"My long-term goal is to be commander-in chief of the United States of America," the confident African-American top student said.

Fast-forward one year and Edmond finds himself in a spot where he'll be lucky if he doesn't end up in prison.

A BRIGHT FUTURE, THEN RUIN

The super-achiever midshipman, who won the 2009 Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps. Cadet of the Year award in the Jackson, Miss. School District, has come a long ways since then.

The teen-ager has been charged with sexual assault of a female mid in a U.S. Naval Academy dormitory last October. He also is accused of making a false official statement.

Academy Superintendent Vice Admiral Michael Miller has ordered an Article 32 (preliminary hearing) be held today, April 18. Our CI's at Annapolis report that it's a good chance Edmond will face court-martial.

The last rape charge and court-martial at USNA was three years ago, when Academy football star Lamar Owens (see related stories box below) was accused of a similar offence.
