"IT
WAS SUICIDE," SAYS CORONER IN GUNSHOT If you can believe Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom's findings, and we don't have any reason to dispute them at this time, Navy Capt. G. Lindsay Perkins, Jr., the commander of Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound ended his life with a bullet to the brain. Investigators found the four-striper's body in his quarters, a handgun with one spent shell laying next to the dead officer's corpse. Initial reports were "no sign of foul play." But speculation is wild at Kitsap Naval Station in Bremerton, Wash. as to just why such a powerful officer as Perkins would kill himself. Many think it had something to do with the sensational arrest of the base's top enlisted man, Command Master Chief Edward Scott, on attempted child rape charges. ENDING IT ALL WITH A BULLET, BETTER THAN ALTERNATIVE, SOURCE SAYS "If NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) finds out I'm talking to you guys, I'll be in big trouble," said a nervous officer, who has been a big fan of MilitaryCorruption.com since we exposed the railroad job done on P01 Jim Praefke [see related-stories box] last year. "The captain wouldn't kill himself unless the alternative was worse, and that means he was somehow mixed up in Scott's sordid activities and feared it would all come out sooner than later," the career man told an MCC investigator on the scene. "What I'm hearing is, that other family members were involved in things that would have proven very embarrassing if revealed. That's why Perkins ended it with the squeeze of the trigger. He couldn't face what was coming." The Navy itself is tight-lipped on details as the NCIS investigation continues. SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN BAIL FOR ACCUSED NAVY MASTER CHIEF Meanwhile, Command Master Chief Edward Scott [see story on home page] who was arrested recently at a Bremerton Hotel as he allegedly sought to have sex with a mother and her 12 year-old twins - "she" was really an undercover cop working an internet sting - caught a break when Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Leonard Costello reduced his bail from half a million bucks to just $150,000. If the 43 year-old top-ranked enlisted man makes bail, he'll have to surrender his passport and appear in court again next month. Word is at Bremerton that Scott was fighting with his wife and had become addicted to internet porn. Where his alleged predilection for pedophilia came from, no one is saying at the moment. But cops and NCIS agents are interviewing others who served with Scott to see if they can dig up any clues from his past behavior on other bases. Scott enlisted in the Navy in 1982 and has put in tours in Hawaii, Guam, Whidbey Island and San Diego. Prior to coming to Kitsap last year, the stocky sailor was master chief of the USS Camden.
