EX-ARMY NCO AND MASS MURDERER TRIES AND

Just keep him locked up at the DB and throw away the key.
Former Army S/SGT Robert Bales doesn't deserve to ever mingle with human beings again.
The "dirt-bag" NCO, who blamed drugs and booze for his homicidal rampage in Afghanistan where he murdered 16 civilians, including nine children, is a disgrace to all Army infantrymen, past and present, who went though more combat than he, and yet never committed the war crimes Bales did.
It's safe to say that an untold number of American service members died over there because his actions played into propaganda useful to the Taliban enemy.
"My mind was consumed by war," this pathetic excuse for a soldier wrote in his letter, obtained under the F.O.I.A. by the Tacoma (Wash.) NEWS-TRIBUNE.
"I have come to understand, there isn't a way - only pain," he whined. "I planted war and hate for the better part of 10 years" - Bales had four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan during that time period - "and harvested violence."
The convicted killer complained he had become "paranoid and ineffective," and said he'd come to "hate" everyone who isn't American.
KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING
No excuse. It was pre-meditated murder.
Bales knew what he was doing when he slipped off his base before dawn on March 11, 2012 and commenced the homicidal mayhem he inflicted on two local Afghan villages.
He even bragged to a fellow GI about what he'd done later that morning, when he arrived back on base, his battle uniform drenched in blood.
Now this monster claims to have "found God" and is starting to turn his life around. We don't intend to demean those in prison who genuinely seek divine help and forgiveness, but we'll believe Bales is "born again" ten years from now, when he's still marking time behind the walls of the Leavenworth Disciplinary Barracks.
