An Army lieutenant colonel at Base Lewis-McChord in Washington who was arrested for allegedly making threats to kill his wife and commanding officer, as well as blow up the state capitol in Olympia, may be the victim of lies spouted by a vengeful ex-gal-pal.

MilitaryCorruption.com has learned the colonel dated his former lady friend for about three months before he ended the relationship in February.

"She totally freaked out,"said a close observer. "When Bob said it was over, she told him she'd kill herself if he left her. It looks like she had a back-up plan in mind," the fellow officer said.

"The woman stalked him everywhere and - according to him (Underwood) - broke into his home two weeks before he was arrested - and stole the field-grade officer's personal laptop computer.

THIS MAY BE CASE OF "SHE SAID, HE SAID"

Readers of MCC will note (see related stories box below) the woman claimed he'd bragged about paying $150,000 to put a "hit" on his estranged wife and Army commanding officer. The ex-girlfriend also claimed Underwood had off-handedly said he might "blow up" the Washington State capitol at Olympia.

Now it appears the charges may have been made up to "get even," the female, knowing the Army "eats it own" and LTC Underwood would get into serious trouble.

Let's hope that truth wins out and civilian prosecutors punish the false accuser, if that's what it turns out to be.
