When America's arch-enemy Osama bin Laden was killed and his body buried at sea, he received more respect than the 274 Americans whose partial remains were burned and ashes dumped in a Virginia landfill without the permission or knowledge of their loved ones.

The old bastard bin Laden was carefully washed and wrapped in a white robe before his bullet-riddled body was deposited into Davy Jones' Locker. Can't we expect at least as much for our own men and women who've paid the supreme sacrifice in our on-going war on terror?

Nearly 300 service-members - with more numbers to come soon - suffered the ultimate indignity of being turned into ashes and dumped in a landfill like yesterday's garbage. This outrage is a very serious black eye for the Air Force who run the mortuary at Dover, Del.

SCHWARTZ SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE

Ultimately, the buck lands on the desk of Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Norton Schwartz. In a previous story, we disclosed he had known about the scandal for at least a year, but kept quiet, hoping things would eventually blow over. They didn't.

We at MilitaryCorruption.com (see related stories box below) have already called for his dismissal. But Gen. Gary North's puppet seems like the proverbial cat with nine lives. And Schwartz hasn't used them all up yet.

New Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stunned observers in the Beltway when he wimped out on demanding punishment for those responsible for the remains scandal.

At a press conference in Washington, Panetta spokesperson, Navy Capt. John Kirby, said his boss was "comfortable" with how the USAF "leadership" has managed the scandal so far.

Well, we are not! Why isn't there any accountability?

What is the final total of remains disrespected? Why did Gen. Schwartz remain silent and impotent for a year before this scandal broke? What was he hiding, and why does he "deserve" to be kept on?

If anyone needs to be fired, it is Schwartz and possibly Air Force Secretary Michael Donley. But rest assured, under Barack Hussein Obama, such incompetence will go unpunished.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: We hope this doesn't hurt him, saying this, but the Washington POST's Craig Whitlock is a good and decent man. He has done yeoman service reporting the Dover mortuary scandal. More power to him. A solid professional.

While we wish the POST would look into the Jill Metzger cover-up, we realize that's the editor's call, not Craig's.

Compared to the Pentagon-friendly Air Force TIMES, who know not to bite the hand that feeds them press releases, we love the Washington POST. We offered to share our Metzger files with departed editor Kent Miller, a particularly rude and obnoxious editor whose coverage of the Air Force "poster girl" consisted primarily of BS and recycled wire-service stories.

This now-gone and unlamented creep declined our offer to join us and journalistically "do the right thing."]
