One more commanding officer relieved this year, and the Navy will have matched it's modern-time annual record of 25 C.O.'s sacked back in 2003.

The latest member of the "Hit Parade" is CAPT Sean McDonnell, former boss of NMCB 14 based at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida.

He's an NROTC grad and 23-year Navy veteran. Now his career is over.

"Mismanagement and program deficiencies" were cited as reasons for the action, we are told.

Navy PAO, LT Charity Hardison, said CAPT Roger Motzko, commander of the 3rd Naval Construction Regiment, pulled the plug on McDonnell due to findings from an inspector general's investigation.

HOTLINE TELEPHONE TIP LED TO I. G. PROBE

The probe began as the result of a telephone tip that there were problems aplenty in the Seabee unit. Officially cited to MilitaryCorruption.com was deficiencies in "ammunition handling, travel authorizations, expense monitoring, and physical readiness training."

McDonnell wasn't alone in getting the axe.

In a highly unusual move, the Navy fired both the present CMC and former master chief at the Florida-based unit.

CMC (SCW) Pedro Villacorta and former top enlisted man CMC William McCrae (SCW.SS), since transferred to a NMCB in Virginia, were also relieved.

Informed sources said both CMC's had failed to oversee the battalion's warfare quality program as well as enforce standards on alcohol abuse.
