AIR FORCE ACADEMY ROCKED
BY NEW SCANDAL - SEX CHARGES FILED
AGAINST FEMALE PROFESSOR
A new sex scandal has rocked the troubled Air force Academy at Colorado Springs.
Last year, a Roman Catholic chaplain, Lt. Col. Pat Nicholson, was booted from the academy after Maj. Susan Archibald accused him of having sex with her, beginning back when she was a cadet.
Now, Capt. Christine Fiori, assistant professor of civil engineering, faces possible court-martial and prison time after being charged with having sex with two cadets last year and lying about it.
The identity of the cadets, one of whom has since graduated and is now an Air Force 2nd Lieut., was not disclosed.
Academy spokesman, Capt. John Elolf, said the alleged sex acts took place "in the Colorado Springs area" during March and August of 2000.
According to the charge sheet, Fiori "knew her duties were derelict" because she "willfully failed to refrain from engaging in sexual activities (with cadets)."
The assistant professor, who joined the Air Force in 1997, will undergo an Article 32 hearing on March 19 to determine if she should be court-martialed.
Besides a prison sentence, Fiori could be dismissed from the service and forfeit all pay and allowances.
