This is the face of evil. Don't look at this pix if you're sitting down to dinner or getting ready for bed.

Shannon Butler's police mug photo sent shivers down the backs of even the most hardened combat veterans here at MilitaryCorruption.com.

This definitely is not a "woman" you'd want to meet up with anytime soon. Said to be the lesbian lover of ex-Navy PO2 Rebecca Braswell, Butler's thin-lipped, beedy-eyed, hate-filled glare would make even the toughest Navy SEAL beware.

We think this is a good case for "the death penalty" - the conspiracy to slay Marmo - whose only "crime" was he tried to get custody of his 4 year-old daughter Heather from his sicko ex-wife. But instead, all involved are going to be a burden on the taxpayers for the next, say, 50 years
.

ANGRY EX-WIFE AND LESBIAN LOVER PLOTTED MARMO DEATH

Braswell seethed with anger and resentment and set about to find a way to kill her ex-hubby.

She found it in a man-hating bull dyke who recruited a couple of creeps to help her murder Marmo.

According to court documents, Butler, 28, got two punks, named Matthew Toerner and Seth Hardy, to help her in her scheme.

Hardy tried to "blow up" Marmo, rigging his car with homemade explosive devices. But twice in a row, they failed to work. Next, sailor Toerner - who'd never met Marmo and knew only what Butler told him about the former boatswain's mate - was designated "triggerman" in what proved to be a successful "ambush slaying."

"SHOT IN THE BACK"

It was 0600 on the morning of Dec. 1, 2006 when John Marmo walked up to the door of his apartment in Camarillo, Calif. He reached in his pocket for his keys.

Suddenly three shots rang out and Marmo crumpled to the ground. A neighbor told investigators she heard someone whoop and hollar, a "WOO-HOO, if you will, and speed off in a vehicle. The killers had been parked in the yard next door to the Marmo living quarters.

It didn't take local cops and the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) long to arrest suspects. Word that Braswell wanted her hubby whacked was common knowledge in the Navy community at Port Hueneme, Calif.

Toerner had deployed to Okinawa, but was quickly located and brought back to the States.

Hardy, 22, tried to play "victim," claiming he was "tricked" into participating in the plot. He managed to secure a life sentence "with chance of parole." Likewise, the surly Shannon Butler. However, Braswell, 28, and gunman Toerner, 22, were sentenced to life with no chance of ever getting outside again.

"I'D PULL THE SWITCH MYSELF," SAYS PETTY OFFICER

Some of Marmo's friends in the tight-knit military community around Ventura Naval Base wish the electric chair was available in California. "I'd strap them in myself and pull the switch," said one Navy petty officer.

John Marmo's last words, as he lay dying in a pool of his own blood, were "help me, please . . ."

His cruel ex-wife reportedly grinned when she got the news. It was the couple's fifth wedding anniversary.
