It didn't take them long. The seven-member military jury at Staff Sgt.Luis Walker's court-martial in San Antonio came back in after less than five hours deliberation with a verdict of guilty.

The former Air Force training instructor showed no emotion as the decision was announced.

Walker now faces the possibility of life in prison after conviction on the rape charge. He also was found guilty of six counts of aggravated sexual assault.

"WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING," OR INNOCENT MAN?

The sergeant's defense team had complained there was no "proof" any sex crimes took place and that one of the alleged female victims even posed for a basic training graduation picture with her accused attacker several weeks after her claimed assault.

"Staff Sgt .Walker is simply not guilty in this case," stated attorney Joseph Esparza. "I know it sounds hard to believe, with all we've heard, but it's just a recitation of stories - there's nothing to back them up."

But the prosecution portrayed the NCO as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" who was a cunning "predator," carefully seeking out his victims, one-by-one. Walker was depicted as a smooth operator, who "groped and kissed" female trainees under his control before deciding which ones to force into sex. Court papers show that the sergeant had intercourse with at least four of the 10 women he was alleged to have sexually assaulted.
