SUBMARINE COLLIDED WITH CIVILIAN CRAFT

It was only a matter of time.

Whenever there is a mishap at sea, the skipper gets the blame. And in the case of the USS Jacksonville, both the submarine's commander and his XO get to walk the plank. Admirals's Mast was held in Bahrain.

Latest Naval officers to see their careers end in the twinkling of an eye are CMDR Nathan Sukols and executive officer, LCDR
Lauren Allen.

The new CO is CMDR Richard Seif and his XO is LCDR Todd Santana.

TWO NAVAL OFFICERS FIRED
OVER BUSTED PERISCOPE

Seif was formally commanding officer of the Los Angeles-class sub Buffalo.

A busted periscope brought down both Suklos and Allen.

The Jacksonville, a fast-attack boat, collided with a civilian craft in the Persian Gulf back in January. The damage was easily repaired, but the Navy has a tradition of sacking commanders when anything goes wrong on their watch.

This case was no exception.
