The grinning jackal and alleged "war criminal" returned to Capitol Hill for the first time since he was fired in disgrace last year, in order to testify in the Pat Tillman "friendly-fire" death, but the late Army Ranger's mother Mary was not impressed.
"I think he lied through his teeth," she told MilitaryCorruption.com, in a wide-ranging exclusive interview with America's fastest-growing military website. Donald Rumsfeld denied any role in muddying the waters regarding circumstances of the famous football player's demise.
"I would never engage in a cover-up," the arrogant and obnoxious former defense secretary testified before a Congressional committee. "I know the gentlemen sitting next to me [including boot-licker and retired Gen. Richard Myers, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff] are men of enormous integrity and would not participate in something like that. Neither would the White House."
And if you, dear reader, believe any of that, we have some swamp land to sell you in Florida, real cheap.
MARY TILLMAN DEMANDS THE TRUTH
Mary Tillman is a woman of great strength and determination and she will not be "put off" by any pack of liars or Bush Administration "spinmeisters."
"I want the truth and I'm not going away!' she vowed from her home in California.
Former NFL player Pat Tillman, a patriot who passed up a multi-million dollar contract to fight for his country in response to the 911 attacks on America, was gunned down - apparently by fellow soldiers - in a "friendly fire" incident on April 22, 2004 in Afghanistan. The Army Ranger died bravely in combat, but his last moments were not the extreme "heroics" that the military tried to portray.
They had the famous Army Ranger "leading his troops" in close combat with the enemy. In truth, Tillman was shot by mistake and the circumstances of his death deliberately obscured.
"They gave my son the Silver Star in an effort to prop up support for the war, a war that Pat had already expressed to the family he had some doubts about," Mary Tillman said. "He was very patriotic, but no fool when it came to politics. He knew the score."
SGT O'NEAL DISPUTES CHAPLAIN'S ACCOUNT
OF TILLMAN REMARKS JUST BEFORE HIS DEATH
Mary Tillman is outraged at certain inaccurate press accounts of what her son supposedly said to a fellow soldier as they came under "friendly fire."
One wire service report claimed Tillman mocked Sgt. Bryan O'Neal as "sniveling" when the GI became frightened under the barrage of bullets. "Hey, O'Neal, shut your (expletive deleted) mouth. Why are you praying? God can't help us now," went the specious account supplied by the so-called "chaplain."
"I know my son, and I doubt he would have treated a fellow soldier that way," Mrs. Tillman said. "He respected everyone and their religion. I wonder what the motive is for the Army to try and to portray Pat in that way." Mary Tillman said she especially resented a remark by one Army field grade officer describing her late son as being "worm dirt."
Sgt. O'Neil also disputes the chaplain's report.
"Pat would never have called me 'sniveling' or curse me out," the NCO said. "I don't recall speaking with this chaplain at all. I don't even know who he is. I find such a characterization of Pat to be very upsetting. He never degraded me. He wasn't that kind of person.
Was Tillman shot deliberately by his fellow soldiers? That's a topic of much speculation on the Internet.
Mary, his mother, and the entire family discount this. "He was well-liked by all," she said. "It's bad enough that the Army tried to use my son's death for political ends, but any insinuation Pat was unpleasant or arrogant towards his fellow soldiers is a cheap shot and a lie."
THE PENTAGON PICKS A "SCAPEGOAT"
Because of his mother's diligence in demanding the truth about how her son died, the cover-up came undone. Now the Pentagon has chosen retired Lt. Gen. Philip Kensinger, former commander of Army special operations, to be the "fall-guy" in the most embarrassing scandal since Abu Ghraib. Some sources say Army Secretary Pete Geren will strip the general of one of his "stars," costing the top brass hat thousands of dollars in retirement benefits.
The reality is, Kensinger is simply a "scapegoat" for the faults and dishonesty of those above him. That Rumsfeld could testify under oath that he knew nothing prior to the cover-up being exposed is ludicrous. Likewise, the claims by top generals that they were out of the loop on the massive effort undertaken to use Tillman's death for political gain is absolutely unbelievable.
Three-star general Kensinger isn't taking the role he's been chosen for "lying down." He wasn't at the hearing before Congress because U.S. Marshals weren't able to locate him to serve a subpoena. But he did get in touch with famed military defense attorney Charles Gittens - a sign that the flag officer does not intend to "go quietly."
