There are few things worse than one officer having an affair with another officer's (or enlisted man's) wife, when that husband is off fighting in a war in which he could easily be wounded or killed.

Such is the case at West Point, where Academy officials and the Pentagon brass are trying to keep their media friends "on the reservation," not reporting the sordid facts of this outrageous scandal.

MilitaryCorruption.com can confirm an official 15-6 investigation is under way on a certain highly-placed bird colonel at USMA who seems to have no conscience about what he has done.

Could it be because the 0-6 knows the worst thing that could happen to him is being asked to put in his retirement papers early? It isn't very fair to let the "fat cats and brass hats" get off with a slap-on-the-wrist and full retirement when lower ranks almost always get the shaft. But that's what happens.

Hypocrisy and double-standards are all-too common these days at West Point.

We have written on these pages about a certain general's son, who, as a cadet was nailed for selling drugs. Or the JAG major and West Point grad recently arrested for using his six-month old infant in a home-made child porn production? What about the sexual affairs and academic cheating that goes on at USMA all the time?

When a man like now-retired COL Mike "NO COMBAT" Colpo, "the chairBORNE Ranger," who served NO TIME overseas at all, much less in combat under fire in his 30 years on the federal gravy train, becomes chief-of-staff at wartime West Point, you have to know the stench of politics has reached epic proportions.

Here's the details as we have them. First of all, we know the names of all involved, but for now, won't release them. We want to see what the authorities do, and if the Academy PAO is successful in keeping this scandal under wraps.

As a former PAO who taught Army public affairs skills, this writer knows full well the extent the "leadership" will go to cover their own behinds. During the Vietnam war, an event we spent several years fighting in, the PAOs were known as PIOs, or public information officers.

That the title was changed to Public "Affairs" officers is perhaps unintentionally "accurate." The PAO's often are called upon to "cover-up" certain "affairs" if they are sexual in nature and committed by high-rankers or the favored few. "Different spanks for different ranks." Real information has nothing to do with it.

Today at West Point, cadets and faculty are talking about a particular medical officer cheating with the wife of a major who is absent, risking his life for his country. They are disgusted with the woman involved, alleged to work at the post gym, but shake their heads at the audacity of the colonel, a 1983 West Point grad, because HIS wife also works the same place as the girlfriend!
